Fantasy and Fairy Art by Caroline Evans

About Me.

Born and raised in Thailand, my love of painting started at an early age.

I was fortunate to live in a world where Eastern mythology, Buddhism and its gentle beliefs were intertwined with fairy tales from the West – all paramount in moulding my life and my views on life.

My bedtime stories ranged from Thai folklore to the intrinsically English flower-fairy world of Cicely Mary Barker; her original Flower-Fairy book, read to my sister and me at bedtime by our mother, still remains in the family.

I moved from Thailand to spend 14 years in Africa and my love for nature was further enhanced by the glorious and abundant wildlife prevalent on that magnificent continent.

My work has been inspired through the years by Cicely Barker's delightful Flower-Fairy illustrations through to Brian Froud, Linda Ravenscroft and Vallejo and Bell, to name a few.

I use a variety of media when painting, depending on how I feel on the day and what I feel each painting needs – these vary from watercolour, acrylics, watercolour pencils, colour pencils and inks. Most of my paintings are embellished with semi-precious stones, baubles, glitter and beads.

My work has been sold through two galleries in England and although working full-time, I find time to continue painting, with a lot of my work currently coming through private commissions.

Believing in Fairies allows people of all ages to enter a world of fantasy, beauty and sometimes, a darker side of life too, because there are no boundaries when it comes to the world of Fairy.
